Born in 2003

Mauricio is a very spirited little boy. He plays hard and loves to help the grown-ups around the village. He likes going to town and to Sunday School. When he misbehaves, he puts his whole heart into that too. Mauricio had been enrolled in kindergarten in Juticalpa before coming to Por Los Niños. We were able to transfer him to the school near the village.

Bio

Mauricio and his little brother, Hector, came to Por Los Niños in April of 2009. They have 4 older siblings that all live with their mother. Their mother works as a domestic assistant and makes about $80 a month. Hector's father was abusive and eventually abandoned the family.

Mauricio's mother and other siblings live in a mud and stick home with a dirt floor and a tin roof.  It has one room that barely accommodates three beds.  They have no cooking facilities, and their only water source is a community well.  Hector and Mauricio were referred to Por Los Niños by a social worker and family court.

When Mauricio joined us, he had no existing health problems.

He has adapted well to his home here at Por Los Niños, but is a bit of a trouble-maker. He is the uncontested champion of being sent to time-out in his room. He loves to play jokes and enjoys surprising others. However, most of his misbehavior comes from good intentions and a heart of gold.

Mauricio, through mischievous, is infinitely lovable.
