Born in 1998

Luz is kind and helpful. She is usually smiling. She loves to help with the younger children, and more than anything enjoys explaining tricky concepts to the other children at school.

Bio

Luz and her brother, Marcos, came to Por Los Niños from the mountains.  She had a tough life there.  She lived with her father, who was 72, and her mother who was not able to care for her or her two siblings because of her mental instability. They all lived in a structure that looked like a chicken coop.  There was no electricity, no indoor plumbing, no running water and no beds for any of them to sleep on. Luz had never left the mountains before she came to live at Por Los Niños.  

Luz suffered from parasites and malnutrition upon being admitted to Por Los Niños.  She was very shy and did not talk at all in her first few months.

Today she is a talkative, happy and bright young lady. She is a tremendous help to her house parents and is always in a good mood.
