Born in 1991

Angel helps at the village by cleaning and doing repairs in the school building. Due to the sensitivity of his skin, he has to stay out of the sun. However, his adventurous spirit and friendly attitude often lead him out of doors. It's a common occurrence to see Jorge or Olga running across the lawn, chasing Angel with a hat.

Bio

Angel was referred to PLN by a mission clinic in Catacamas. At age four, he weighed only 19 pounds. He could walk, but he could not talk. Suffering from severe malnutrition, pellagra, anemia and rickets, Angel was in critical condition and not expected to live. Because of parasites and severe malnutrition, Angel had a prolapse of his intestines. When this prolapse first occurred, doctors in Catacamas would not treat him. We were told that Angel would die. Finally, a doctor in Juticalpa did surgery to replace his intestines. It was said at that time that only through love and prayer would Angel be brought through his critical condition.

During this recovery, Angel needed a personal care taker to feed him every two hours. Today, Angel still has the heart of a child. He likes to run and play, but he must stay out of the sun because he suffers from skin cancer.

Angel has faced the worst of odds and survived. He is strong, caring, and gentle-spirited. Angel is a testimony to the healing power of love and the amazing things that can happen through the money and prayer contributed by sponsors. Angel would not be alive today if it were not for the much-needed ministry of Por Los Niños.
